My husband's grandparents made 48 years and then his grandmother died. I remember sitting with his grandfather who was saying how if she'd lived another couple of years they would have been married 50 years and together for 54. He was heartbroken and died within two years. All I can remember is how he said he wished they could have had 'a bit more time together.' Which is so heart-warming when you think that relationships like that truly do exist. Isn’t it just! My husband’s grandparents made 48 years and then his grandmother died.
