Life in General|
I would like to wish someone very important in my life a very happy birthday and I’m also dropping by to say that I will be away this weekend to celebrate an even more special occasion. It is my mother and father in-law’s 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary. They will hate that I’ve told the nation (or at least, the MIL will) but having been married for 50 years and glad of it is something to celebrate indeed. Cheers!

Wish them my love
50 years is definitely something to boast about!

Isn’t it just! My husband’s grandparents made 48 years and then his grandmother died. I remember sitting with his grandfather who was saying how if she’d lived another couple of years they would have been married 50 years and together for 54. He was heartbroken and died within two years. All I can remember is how he said he wished they could have had ‘a bit more time together.’ Which is so heart-warming when you think that relationships like that truly do exist.

Give them my very best wishes too. That’s half a century, no mean feat! Congratulations!

It turned out to be a lovely weekend, even though it proved a bit hectic for us, and they adored their gifts. And you’re right. It truly is an accomplishment for many reasons. I’d love to be so lucky.
