Happy New Year
Life in General|2008 saw the publication of two novels, one novella, and one short story, with other acceptances (more on those as and when). Publications were “Virgin Special”, part of AMP’s Del Fantasma series, and “The One That Got Away” part of their Shifting Perspectives 2 anthology. Loose-Id released “The Swithin Chronicles 3: The Comet Cometh” and therefore completed the trilogy (although there will be spin-offs) and a standalone novel called “Cosmic”. My backlog of titles continue to sell and the publishers renewed more than one contract.
On a personal note, we celebrated the inlaws golden wedding anniversary, my nephew’s 21st birthday and the completion of my father’s estate, which was a relief as I can now look ahead to scattering his ashes in peace. We also managed to move house against all odds, and finish a great deal of the decorating although not all the larger ‘jobs’ that need doing — the type of things that are real ‘projects’. We had a couple of good breaks and a couple of theatre treats (seeing David Tennant — sorry, but I had to mention that again *g*). We’ve had a lazy Christmas but after the last couple of years that’s just what we needed. It’s back to normal on Monday but we have things to look forward to in the coming year. I’m a little behind with the writing schedule I set myself but to be honest, I push myself far too hard. I know many writers do. So if I’m making any serious resolutions I know I should ease up on the self-recrimination. All in all, I’m feeling content and optimistic. Yes, I know so much looks dire for the world right now but sometimes we need to look at our own little corners of the universe and think about the good things we have and when things are at their worst what pops into our heads are usually those people who mean the most. Not the material things but those we love.
Happy New Year everyone, to you and to all those people you hold dear. To all my old friends and to my new, to those I’ve met in the ‘real world’ and to those I know from the virtual one, many of whom I’ve met and many I intend to do my utmost to meet as soon as the fates allow. It’s nice knowing you and thanks for sharing something as precious as your time.
Love Sharon x
