I guess that’s not strictly true as I am informing you all that I’m disappearing for a few days and I’m not sure you can be AWOL when everyone knows about it. I should write a delightful insightful blog no doubt but the fact is I’m run off my feet, trying to decide what to pack, what tops go with which bottoms, and even which nail polish — ahh, why don’t men have this hassle when going anywhere? — and am finally getting … slightly engrossed in the book I’m writing.

Well, it’s been a bit of fitting and starting as I fumble my way through but with any luck I will finally have another m/m contemporary that I will likely sub to Loose-Id before the end of the year. I’m only going to refer to it by its ‘working’ title, which will most definitely NOT be the title it ends up with. I don’t usually give titles away in advance anyhow but “Stage Play” just hasn’t settled on an identity yet. Until I have my title and the characters’ names, often the story doesn’t feel right to me and doesn’t start to click into place. What I’m writing now seems to be the exception. I’ve just changed the title a third time. I changed it from a terrible one to a great one but it doesn’t fit the story and I think I’d rather keep the second title back for a better fit. The title I’ve finally decided on was staring me in the face from the opening chapter but idiot here just didn’t see it until the story developed some more. Still, it’s changed twice so let’s leave it with it’s working title for now. Stage Play is about a third of the way along.

We’re going away for a few days to see relatives. This is the first break we’ve taken this year and we’re looking forward to it. I’ve got books to pack and my laptop to take, although I won’t have internet access. I’m planning to get to the seaside so I suppose the old legs need a shave. I’m joking about the shave — they’re done — although I’m not so sure about the old comment. I’ve been putting a lightly tinted moisturising cream on the legs. I’m a bit afraid to get the pale pasty things out in the fresh air.

When I get back I’ll see about posting some overdue photos of the garden and maybe even the sea, so I must remember to pack my camera.

To end on an upbeat note, you can thank fellow author Anne Brooke, who found this link and posted it on her blog first but it’s worth passing around, so if you didn’t see the sweet story of the Duck Man on the news last night, here it is. Who knows, maybe we’ll spy some ducks this weekend. Take care. I’ll be back on the 28th!
