Almost there but the end escapes me
Writing|Those who have been following the fact that I’m trying to find the time to write another m/m contemporary (thanks for the public and private notes of cheering me on by the way) will be pleased to hear that I’ve written over 60,000 of my aimed for 70,000 words. The trouble is the end just escapes me. “Almost there but not quite” has been driving me crazy. So I’m doing something I don’t usually do.
You see, I believe the reason I’m having trouble is that unlike writing Snow Angel where I knew my characters from the outside, I’ve had to learn what makes these two new guys tick. I’ve discovered their quirks and foibles as I’ve gone along. So now I’m doing my first edit round before I finish the main draft. I’m baring in mind who these men are, their strengths and their weaknesses, what they aren’t saying to one another in each scene…and hoping by the time I come to the end I will actually know the end.
This book isn’t going to be Snow Angel. What would be the point in that? It does, however, feature two guys with two very different personalities and you know how conflicting that can be. I’m also hoping there’ll be enough comic touches to make readers smirk a time or two. I’d like readers to laugh a little with this one, even as they growl in frustration. It’s a lighter book, I admit that, but there is something similar between the two books in that they both begged me to write them, and that’s always good.
I’m planning to sub it before the end of the year. I’d sub it next week if I could but it’s not ready and I won’t just yet, even if I feel the publisher might be happy to work on it with me.
