It's true though and a good cover is priceless for a writer. Although I also have to say a good title will do the same trick for me. I'm trying to take extra care on my titles now, not that I didn't before. Many times I just 'know' what the title should be but if I have to work at getting the title right it can be as big a pain as writing the book. LOL. I know I shouldn't and you're right, the wrapping may be horrid but the story behind it may be grand. I've read good books with crap covers, but alas it what catches my eye.
