Update Feb 2012

Posted by Sharon on February 14, 2012 in News, Writing |

I’m currently marooned on Phobos, or at least it feels like it. LOL. No, I don’t mean that in a bad way. My publisher doesn’t have to pull out hair. Basically, it’s just that my mind is in as fast an orbit and spinning as Phobos itself. I’m mired in steampunk, and while this project is harder in some ways than others I took a break at the weekend and it’s done me the world of good. Three days of no writing and my first ‘weekend off’ since I can’t remember when. Then yesterday I wrote well over 5000 words. I need to learn to take a rest now and then. Everyone gets time off; why not writers? Well, fact is we so often just don’t. Anyone who thinks writing is glamorous and involves kicking back and relaxing needs to think again. You become a writer and you will be forever busy, but I’ve just proved to myself I need a well-deserved break now and then.

I’ve heard I should receive edits for Acting Out around mid-March, which is brilliant timing for my schedule. I can breathe again. And as soon as I finish my current project I’ll be starting a work for Changeling.

In other news, anyone who hasn’t got a copy of my ‘fling’ at Loose-Id: Space, Man, if you want it in its current ‘sweet’ format then you’ve got your last chance in the next few weeks. This comes out of contract in April. I’ve withdrawn it because I want to rework it, and I may have an interested party. It deserves a new leash of life, me thinks. It’s never been sold outside of Loose-Id so in a new form it will reach a wider market.

And this week I’ll be taking part in the I Love Musa Blog Hop running from the 16th to the 19th. Check back on the 16th for news of a favourite read of mine at Musa for a chance to win a copy of Calm and Chaos: Acting Out, due for release in August. But remember: comment only on the blog hop post between the 16th and 19th! Thanks.
