I Will Not Say Goodbye…

Genre: Contemporary, Poem (R-PG)

This poem is from a set form. It’s called a paradell or panadell, or something similar. Alas, I can’t remember the exact name of the style or locate it. If anyone ever discovers the accurate name for this form, then please let me know.

Written in memory, and dedicated to all those who’ve had reason to grieve.

My friend, my great heart,
My friend, my great heart,
you twist, of a deep and biding sadness,
you twist, of a deep and biding sadness,
You twist my heart, my great friend,
of a biding and deep sadness.

For you I would not trade,
For you I would not trade,
continue to a pain for joy.
continue to a pain for joy.
For you to continue,
I would not trade a pain for joy.

Say goodbye — you to me — I will not live,
Say goodbye — you to me — I will not live,
inside; I think of every time.
inside; I think of every time.
Every time I think to say goodbye
I will not; you live inside of me.

I will not say goodbye, my friend,
for you continue to live inside of me.
Every time I think of you,
you twist my heart;
a deep and biding sadness of great joy,
a pain I would not trade.
